White Rocks

Last Saturday, I tried to sneak the kids out of the house before Kristen woke up. What I didn't know is that one of them had already hopped in bed with her for a few minutes. So Kristen kept Bryce and the rest of us trekked over to the White Rocks area of Snow Canyon.
.
The rock amphitheater surface has good grip, so climbing is easy.
.
Carter is the navy blue dot in the center of the picture.
.
There are also some soft white sand dunes in the bowl. Chelsea and Spencer had fun making tracks.
.
I have three expert guides living in my house. They would be happy to show any visitors to St. George the beauties and wonders of Southern Utah.

Weekend with Carter

On conference weekend Carter and I headed up to "Utah" (We don't really consider St. George part of Utah). We tried to make the most of the trip.
.
On Friday, I surprised Carter with Jazz tickets. We got to the game early enough to go court side and see some of the players up close.
.
This picture is a little blurry, but it shows the Jazz on their way to trouncing the Spurs.
.
Between watching Saturday sessions of conference, we stopped by one of our favorite restaurants for lunch.
.
This is Carter on his way to work. Just kidding. To avoid parking nightmares on Sunday morning, we took the train downtown to the morning session of General Conference.
.
Here is Carter inside the Conference Center. We were actually able to move another 17 rows closer before the session started.
.
Here we are after the session.
.
On Monday, we did a little skiing at Snowbird before we headed home. We first tried Sundance, only to find out their last day of the season was on Saturday. Of course when we last checked the internet at home on Friday it was still listed as open. I guess it's time to get broadband at the cabin.

Los Hermanos

We headed north this President's Day to spend some time in the snow at the cabin, see family, and of course, stop by our favorite restaurant, Los Hermanos.
.
.
Spencer was pleased with the size of his nacho platter.
.
Jonathan and Gina have a booth named after them because they were married after meeting each other while working at Los Hermanos.
.
Gina seems grateful she did't take that job at Taco Bell.
.
The BYU crew.
.
Spencer was placed in jail for hitting Jonathan with a dirty snowball on the way to the car.

Bryce getting bigger

When there is nothing to blog about, one trick I know is to post pictures of the kids. Here is one taken just the other day.
.
Bryce is getting bigger, but he still hasn't caught up to Spencer.

Johnson Arch

On Saturday we went hiking around Johnson Arch with Jonathan, Gina, and friends.
.
.
Does anyone know how to get back to the car?
.
.
I am pretty sure that is not the way out of the canyon.
.
.
Maybe the way out is just over this rock.
.
.
Eventually we just cleared ourselves a path.

To The Batcave!

The Ellis family came to visit over Christmas vacation. We took them to the lava caves. This is the mouth to one of the caves.
.
The caves are in Snow Canyon, named for a person, not snow, but you wouldn't know that looking at this picture of Ty and Spencer in a snow-spotted field.
.
This is Spencer building up the courage to drop into the pitch black hole in the ground.
.
Carter underground.
.
Chelsea farther underground.
.
Everybody made it out alive. We celebrated at Pizza Factory.
