Mario Kart Wii Update

I've been working nights this week. Therefore, I have been home during the day with Spencer and Bryce who follow me like magnets. There are only a handful of activities that are enjoyable for children and adults alike. One of those is the Wii. This week Spencer and I (and Carter when he was home) have unlocked every cart, bike, and character on Mario Kart. I'm not normally an advocate for video games, however, it was satisfying to set a goal and to accomplish it with my sons. Maybe next time we'll do something that benefits mankind.

Standard Works Update

I'm in Joshua. Moses has just been translated and the Israelites have crossed Jordan.
.
I also read Pearl of Great Price today.

Basketball Season

Carter loves basketball. Here he is on a fast break.
. He collects cards, reads ESPN.com, and watches games on TV. Here he is splitting the defenders.
.
His favorite team is the Lakers, but he tolerates the Jazz as well. Here he is protecting the ball.

I'm In Leviticus

Update: I have finished Genesis and Exodus. By reading 25 pages a day instead of 7 you could be done with the standard works by the end of April. Then you wouldn't have to be disciplined for quite as long.

Standard Works Challenge

We were challenged this week by the stake presidency to read the scriptures 20 minutes a day, everyday this year. In addition, the presidency set a goal for themselves to read the complete standard works over the course of the year and invited any one of us to join them. If you start today, you can complete the standard works this year by reading 7 pages a day, or if you prefer, 4.3 chapters a day.

I need to do something worthwhile this year, so I have accepted the challenge. I don't want to back out of it, so I am making my goal known on the blog. I am starting with the Old Testament. I am going to start my pace at 10 pages a day, so I should be through Genesis by next Sunday. Please ask me about it so I don't wimp out.

It would be fun if I were doing it with other people, so I am laying down the challenge. 7 pages per day is nothing. Have you read the Bible cover to cover? Do it now, so you can always say you that you have. Let me know if you're in.
